We’re pleased to announce that Sierra McConnell has joined Dickinson, Mackaman, Tyler & Hagen P.C. as an Associate Attorney.

McConnell is a May 2021 graduate of Drake University Law School (with High Honors) and holds a Bachelor of Science from Iowa State in Marketing and Speech Communications (Summa Cum Laude). She began her legal career as a summer clerk at Dickinson Law in 2020.

Her practice at the firm will focus on assisting clients with a variety of business and litigation issues including Corporate Governance, Cybersecurity, Data Breach & Privacy, Business Formation, Startups,  Emerging Technology, and Employment & Labor Law.

She’ll also be practicing in the areas of Banking Regulatory Compliance and Education Law, and will be helping both individuals and businesses with their Real Estate, Trust and Estate needs.

“I’m excited to start my practice at the firm,” Sierra said. “The environment that all of the employees create at the firm was what drew me to it. It’s professional, yet everyone is genuinely interested in you.”

Sierra grew up in Boone as part of a large family where she learned to appreciate all that Iowa has to offer, from the many opportunities available to its friendly citizens.

“I was motivated to seek a legal career due to my love for Iowa and a goal to contribute to its growth and success,” she added. “My dad works with farmers and I grew up traveling with him as he promoted the state and its people – I knew I wanted to do this on some level one day.”

Sierra and her new husband, James, have settled in the Des Moines area in Indianola, where they enjoy hanging out with their mini golden doodle, trying local restaurants, and traveling to new locales.

“I like the size of Des Moines, and the lifestyle it offers. It’s small enough to get to know my neighbors, but large enough that I can build a career,” she said. “I look forward to doing just that here at Dickinson Law.”
