Dickinson, Mackaman, Tyler & Hagen P.C. is happy to announce that attorney L. Lars Hulsebus has joined the firm.
Lars brings nearly ten years of litigation experience with him, having handled a wide array of litigation cases in state and federal court. He also has experience in arbitrations and mediations, including before JAMS, the world’s largest private alternative dispute resolutions provider, and FINRA.
Before joining Dickinson Law, Lars practiced litigation in New York, first at the international firm Willkie Farr and Gallagher LLP, and then at litigation boutique Dewey Pegno & Kramarsky LLP. He attended Georgetown University Law Center where he obtained his Juris Doctorate.
Lars grew up on a farm in northwest Iowa near Pocahontas, and attended Drake University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in political science and journalism. Prior to attending law school, he spent four years reporting on Waukee and Clive for The Des Moines Register.
“I’m thrilled to be back in the Des Moines area,” Lars said. “It’s been great getting reacquainted with the city, and being closer to family and longtime friends.”
While at Dickinson Law, Lars will continue to focus on litigation in multiple practice areas, including trial law, appellate work, business litigation, contract disputes, employment litigation, mediation and arbitration, real estate litigation, securities and commodities, banking litigation, insurance defense, and freedom of information/sunshine law disputes.
“My passion is advocacy,” he said. “As I build my practice, I look forward to zealously representing clients both inside and outside the courtroom, and helping them solve problems in creative ways.”
In his spare time, Lars is an avid musician and singer/songwriter, and has released multiple albums of original music. He looks forward to getting involved in the Des Moines music scene.
